My topics for multicultural experiences are 1. The Fast-a-thon I attended for Ramadan. 2. The Kent African Student's Association meeting from last week. 3. My trip to Mexico in 2006 and 4. The international dinner
The Kent African Student's Association meeting was the only way I found out about the international dinner and I'm very pleased that I went. This very energetic older woman had introduced herself to me and decided that we should be sitting with members of the group for the full experience. She was a lovely woman and I am very thankful that she was there. Laura even asked for my phone number and may want to talk to me about working with her sometime. She does this kind of cultural dinner around the Kent area in an attempt to get people from different backgrounds together.
I'm so excited and cannot wait for Saturday. The event sounds like it's going to be amazing with a Russian orchestra and tons of international food. I will be going across stores on campus to obtain some canned food to bring, because the event is free but we have been asked to bring food for the needy. This doesn't bother me because I have hundreds of extra dollars on my meal plan and it always pleases me to help out the less fortunate. I should hopefully see Laura again and maybe she can help introduce me to some people.
After this coming weekend there are two days of classes and then I'm free for Thanksgiving vacation! I cannot wait to go home and visit family!
